Meet the Raptors
origin story
Raptor with a Shotgun Productions was founded in 2009 with one goal: Make awesome independent movies. To that end, this husband and wife team have evolved to learn and create things in every aspect of production. From writing to set and prop creation, and eventually the development of Hollywood quality post-production done on an indie budget.
After they met at a convention, their shared love for all things nerdy drove them to create and develop together. Their favorite films from their childhood, Alien, Big Trouble in Little China, and anything 80s and campy, solidified their love for film and want to create movies of their own. Maya’s sculpting and artistic ability together with Shawn’s knowledge of the film production process and basic compositing pushed them to learn all that they needed to create the films that they so loved together.

Breaking the Mold
After learning the skills from working on film sets, creating props and space ship sets on a budget, Raptor with a Shotgun expanded to begin offering movie quality props, both for collectors and cosplayers the world over.
Their work was shared countless times and appeared in many cosplay competitions and conventions. Most notably, the development teams of the Avengers and Game of Thrones congratulated them on their ability to create props that even those productions themselves had only made using CG elements. Their work made into the hands of Stan Lee and got a satisfying smile and thumbs up, fueling them to work even harder.
With the development of 3D printers, the market became far too competitive to stay in, so they evolved back into a film company with their sights set on commercials and indie film yet again.
Full Time Production
Over the past few years, the team has worked diligently to help create content for many independent content creators. They have helped advise musicians with music videos and marketing, helped start up businesses reach their target audiences with consistent influencer content and have even assisted in the planning and creation of studios.
Most recently they have been instrumental in the marketing of large-scale shipping companies working the world over to deliver safe and reliable energy to those less fortunate.
This has all been excellent, but much of the work has been wrapped up in very tight NDAs or muddled in endless productions. There has been little that they have been able to share openly, and even less that they feel reflects their own passion or vision. That is what brings us to the future...
The Future
As they move to the future, doing cosplay and art for fun, they are getting back to their roots. They are taking the signs from the world that it is time to once again create the films and stories that called out to them and that they burned to create back when they started.
To that end, this site will be the beginning of an expanded universe, wrapping in the various books that are being written, short films that will be developed, and from here you will get a constant view into the inner workings of this independent film team with a determination to never give up.
And of course, we will continue to create our Cosplay Content, but with a film forward approach. We plan on wrapping up our skills in a way that creates film quality products and elevates the medium in a way that reflects our love for film and creates products that we ourselves are passionate about.
